Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. March Update

HUZZAH! It's been a crazy whirlwind moving to Seattle, but I think things are finally settled. Just to quickly recap - I moved from Nashville to a house here in December with 4 other roommates. That went sour at the end of December, then things went wacky with the landlord by the end of January, found a new place, then re-pack and re-move in February. Some of the things I had to re-order when I moved here managed to break again in the re-move. So there's been a lot of fun lately re-re-ordering the office stuff and supplies -- it's had the most bizarre 'Twilight Zone' deja vu feeling to it, but I've finally gotten everything set up and organized. However, the stress kinda caught up with me a couple weeks ago, and after moving in to the new place I had to just take a break from things for a while. I got kinda physically ill too, tho I don't know if that was just a winter/weather thing.

I really appreciate those of you who continued to check out my auctions each week and ordering, despite my lack of updates and responses. I'm very sorry I haven't gotten back in touch with customers, or sent out newsletters these past couple of weeks. I've also fallen a little behind in shipping. This week I'll be getting caught up on all of that and be back in the groove. I shipped out half of the orders Friday, and the rest will be on their way in the next few days. I'll also be in touch with everyone in the commission queue with their status by the end of the week (Sunday night at the very latest). But thanks to all of you again who's ordered prints these past few weeks and have been patient with me, it has really helped during this whole crazy situation.

On a side note, aside from the stress and weird deja-vu (or perhaps a product of the two), I've been getting hit hard with nostalgia and flashbacks of the past, mainly the last 10 years. I think it's because I'm about to turn 30 this week, but I've been reminiscing a lot of people, places and memories like a floodgate lately - analyzing what I've done, things I need to change, and even finding stronger echoes/effects of decisions from the teen years. Anyway, another ten years on this planet are coming to close, and yet I find myself having trouble finding the depth of that timespan. Ten years doesn't seem like a long time when you think of entertainment or in context of the calendar, but when looking back at my own last ten years, I can't believe just how many memories fall in there.

I was dreading turning 30. I kinds know where you're coming from, all I kept thinking was how I thought I'd be more ahead at that age and whatnot. Oddly enough my birthday came and went and it really wasn't so bad. Still don't like being over 30, but I guess it's better than the alternative. LOL
